How to Approve Pending Goals

The Pending Approvals page allows managers to review, approve, or deny goals submitted by their direct reports. Because goals are dynamic and may be updated throughout the performance cycle, managers should check this tab regularly to ensure timely review of changes, maintain alignment with departmental priorities, and provide employees with prompt feedback on their updates.


Access Pending Approvals Page

Use this page to review and approve goals submitted by your direct reports. Approving goals ensures alignment with departmental objectives and confirms that employees are clear on expectations for the performance cycle.

  1. Go to Carolina Talent → Performance → Goals.

  2. Select the Pending Approvals tab to view all goals awaiting your review.

You will see a list of employee goals with their status, submission date, goal owner, and progress bar.

Review Goals

  1. Click the down arrow (˅) next to a goal title to expand and review the full details.

  2. Review the goal’s description, due date, and progress to ensure it aligns with expectations.

  3. If changes are needed, open the More Actions menu (⋯) next to the goal and select Edit or Deny.

Approve Goals

Once you have reviewed a goal:

  1. Select the checkbox next to each goal you wish to approve.

  2. Click Approve (or use the select all goals

    • The status will update to Approved, and the employee will receive a system notification.


Approve Multiple Goals

Managers can approve one or more goals at the same time from the Pending Approvals page.

  1. Select goals to approve

    • Use the Select all goals on this page checkbox to approve all pending goals at once, or individually select specific goals.

    • Each selected goal will be highlighted with a checkmark.

  2. Approve or Deny

    • After selecting the desired goals, click Approve to confirm the goals or Deny to send them back for revision.

    • Once approved, the goal status will update automatically and the employee will be notified.

This option helps managers quickly approve multiple goals in bulk, saving time during the goal-setting period.

Tips

  • Use the Filters or Current Period dropdown to view goals by cycle or status.

  • Pending Approval indicates the goal is waiting for your review.

  • Pending Modification Approval means the employee made changes to an already approved goal and resubmitted it for review.
